Overburdened
Found this little snippet whilst unpacking at my new place (I'm guessing I wrote this during university):

And no, my handwriting is not this bad at all times. Must've broken my wrist or something for this!

This is not about Windows Phone 7 Series (excellent name btw). A lot of articles have been written about what shape and form Internet Explorer 9 could/will take. I think outside of supporting mainstream web technologies, no one is really requesting for a UI overhaul. I think two critical aspects of IE9 will be the speed and UI of the browser. I'm not switching away from Chrome unless IE9 can perform at least as well as Google's browser in terms of application launch, page loading etc. Second, I believe there are much better ways to layout a web browser, including the back-forward buttons and their functionalities. More on these in a separate post where I will show how a page independent menu system can be added to different browsers. However, what I half expect to see at the IE9 keynote is a revised UI for the browser based on the Ribbon interface! I'm not saying this because Steven Sinofsky is leading the charge for IE9 development. I think a thinner version of the Ribbon UI will definitely benefit our overall browsing experience. Let's wait and see. permalink 0 comments
